Advice regarding dreamweaver vs. wordpress?

I need some advice. I have been designing my site with dreamweaver for 1.5 years. I’ve noticed many other successful blog / site owners use wordpress. I recently had to try wordpress for someone I work for, uploading all his articles onto his blog. It is very easy, organized, and much easier to use than dreamweaver… but doesn’t look as good (not professional looking) and is far too common. I don’t think you can put google ads or other ads where you want either (like in the header image, etc.)

In my opinion, both have benefits, but the more successful people I know that blog seem to use wordpress (shoemoney.com, entrepreneurs-journey.com, johnchow.com, whateverlife.com, etc.)

Does anyone have a preference for dreamweaver/ original well-designed html websites, or wordpress? Are wordpress blogs / sites really that much easier to make successful?

WordPress is inextricably bound to PHP, and if you don’t have a working knowledge of PHP you’ll probably get better results working in Dreamweaver. (If you do have a working knowledge of PHP you can slap your ad blocks pretty much anywhere you want.)

That said, there are plenty of big-name blogs running WordPress, including all the descendants of I Can Has Cheezburger.
