Stop apologizing for nvidia and calling me a liar. It serves no purpose. I’ve seen it myself. It doesn’t matter any loading, unloading, transloading or magic key presses. Bugs in the nvidia driver can and do mess up the kernel core, sometimes irreversibly and a reboot is needed. These bugs aren’t documented by the kernel and are up to nvidia to fix behind closed doors.

    Thanks for the -1.

I have been using a Geforce 6600 for years now with Ubuntu and Archlinux and I don’t know what you’re talking about.
    Examples please!

Linux is ugly. So what if you use a buggy dock or make Linux look like an operating system that it isnt (Mac OSX) or use a buggy 3D effects thing, it’s ugly. So what if you can customize it? The first thing I want to see when I get a new computer with Linux is something pretty. What do I get? A grey ugly top and bottom dock. So what if there’s KDE? Why use something that can’t even design a website properly without big huge fonts. KDE is buggy and annoying and not unique. Linux fails.

A question that’s needs some serious consideration before using linux:
“Will women ever talk to me again!?” LOL

A .exe file is a windows binary. You won’t find anything like that in linux, unless you put one. And even if you did, Linux can not basically execute .exe files.

Im using Ubuntu and all the reactions I get are something like
“Wow, what are you using? It looks awsome” or “Why does your Windows 7 look so much better than mine?”

Im not even using the cube or any of the fancy 3d effects.

Linux doesnt fail you; you fail linux.

I agree, and you need a good gateway drug to get people interested in Linux. Ubuntu is perfect to get people started.

I used Ubuntu before and some things weren’t working right, so i came across Linux Mint and have had it on another machine since 7. It’s excellent and dead easy to use. It’s Ubuntu perfected :D

I used to be a mint user after watching this. I am anti-microsoft so i would swich to anything. I just swiched to mepis 8 and have never been happier. Mint may be more multimedia ready but Mepis is faster slower and requires lower system requirements

Linux is a kernel not an Operaterating System itself.

MS-Windows did nothing for the computer industry, it didn;t make people more computer savvy, it made people more computer illiterate. What I mean by this is it’s “easy” setup of hardware etc made people unknowledgable about how the hardware actually works. Ubuntu is a great “beginners” distro of Linux, because it’s super easy to install, and maintain. Real GNU/Linux distros force the user to dig in and understand the hardware, which is what I prefer. :)

You are correct, but if he said GNU/Linux, he would scare away any Windows users.

Linux is the Core OS.. GNU rides on this OS Core.. Therefore we call it GNU/Linux..
