How do I completely replace my pc with ubuntu?
I have an old computer lying around that I want to install linux on. I’ve downloaded and burned the ubuntu installation to a cd and the cd works and everything. I want to completely delete everything windows off of the old computer so that ubuntu runs automatically when I turn on the computer. What’s the best way to do this?

(sorry im doing this from the top of my head haven’t install ubuntu in awhile)
When you install it there should be a part where it asks you if you want to format the drive or something
click w/e patron windows is on
format it and install ubuntu on it
well just put it da cd run in and there
just format ur entire hard-drive using fdisk and install ur ubuntu.
Well all you have to do is format your computer. I usually do it before I install a new Operative System. Some Operative Systems automatically give you the option to format your computer if there’s an existing Operative System and there’s only one Partition. I don’t know if that’ the case with Ubunto when I installed it I installed it in another partition or after formatting the disk so I didn’t need to use it.
To format your Disk you need to turn on the Computer, but don’t let the windows run and you format through the BIOS.
You can install Ubuntu 9.04 within windows using Wubi installer
http://wubi-installer.org/
You keep Windows as it is, Wubi only adds an extra option to boot into Ubuntu. Wubi does not require you to modify the partitions of your PC, or to use a different bootloader, and does not install special drivers. It works just like any other application.
Wubi keeps most of the files in one folder, and if you do not like it, you can simply uninstall it as any other application.
