I have a free version of wordpress, can I still install a plugin? There is not plugin section on my dashboard.

I know I need to enable the audio plugin, however I don’t see it (plugin option) in my dashboard. I have the free blog, is that why I can’t install any plugins? Is there still a way to put audio on my wordpress blog without paying for anything?

i am in my dashboard of my wordpress site and i click on plugins but after it takes me to that page, there is no add new button.
how do i get a plugin?
i have never installed a plugin before

I noticed that the dashboard is missing the plugins button so the obvious conclusion is that you cannot but I just want to make sure since I’m a noob at using both the self-hosted and the free versions of WP.

I’ve looked at many sites on how to do it, but it always says ‘go to the Plugin tab’. I can’t find the plugin tab on my dashboard! Do I need an upgrade or something?
@nosmirc flen: but why is it that when i look at the tutorial sites, it always shows a picture of the dashboard like the one on wordpress.com or are they similar, the wordpress.com / .org dashboard?

I would like to put some plugins onto my blog but i don’t know how to. I’m using a Mac and everything is online(blog wise). Is there meant to be a plugin category in the sidebar of my Dashboard(blog)? Help.

How can I add this widget: http://blog.lioux.com/index.php/wordpress-plugins/collapsible-categories/ to my Wordpress.com blog? I really would like to use collapsable categories but I have no idea how to install the widget so I can drag the widget into the sidebar under ‘presentation’ on the dashboard.
