Will open office work in place of Microsoft office?

I am taking a college class CIS 101 and Microsoft Office is required. I have the student edition but it does not have access included and access is required. I tried downloading the professional version for free from Microsoft but it kept saying my computer was offline, and now it says I have tried to many times. Will open office work, or is it different enough that I won’t be able to complete my assignmnets? Thank you!

Can you open an Open Office document on a Windows XP computer?

I am buying a laptop that does not run on Windows XP. It uses Open Office instead of Microsoft Office. The only way I can print documents off is if i send it to my desktop computer, which runs on Windows XP. Will i be able to open my Open Office document on my Windows XP desktop computer?

How to open an Open Office slide show in Microsoft Office

I have a presentation in English class on Monday and I did my slide show BUT on my computer at home I use open office. I don’t even have Microsoft office. The computer at school that I will present it on doesn’t have Open Office but Microsoft Office. Is there a way to open the file on the school computer or no?

What document format is compatible with both Open Office and microsoft office?

I have a problem with this because I have open office on my home computer and microsoft office at work. I noticed that some of the formats I used aren’t compatible, but I need a document format that is capable of using more complex formatting that basic rtf.

Open Office, Stepmania, and other blatent rip-offs. How do they get away with it?

I was just wondering about things like Open Office. It’s almost an exact duplicate of Microsoft Office. Stepmania is almost exactly like Dance Dance Revolution. How are they allowed to make something so close without getting sued? Is it because these things are free?

How Can I Change Open Office File Extentions to Save For Windows?

I recently downloaded Open Office Suite with every program. I was very please and impressed by their programs. Their like the mirror image of Microsoft Office. I didn’t like the fact that it didn’t have a program like Outlook, though I have Mozilla Thunderbird. But my question is, is there a way to have everything I create (word, presentation etc) automatically save as a Word or Powerpoint file? I want this because I do work for school and my school doesn’t have open office so every time I use my flash drive to open a document created by open office it doesn’t work. So can I just change is so its Word and Powerpoint even though its Impress and Writer! THANKS!
I basically want to have the file extension change by auto!
