I an VERY new to linux. I have installed Fedora 5 in text mode. I have a Linux book and am trying to slowly learn linux. So from the console, or command line, how do I run a web browser. Also how do I run the X Windows System?

google prevent downloading its web browser, chrome from downloading in some countries. according to that chrome is an open source program and is under BSD license, is that legal to prevent downloading?
What is the best version of Linux for me?
I have an old computer and I want to put Linux on it. I know that most versions of Linux come with a bunch of programs and that makes it take longer to download/install. I would like a fast booting version of Linux that comes with a web browser and maybe an email client. There could be a few extra programs, but the LESS the BETTER!
