I am thinking of buying a cheap netbook ( the ASUS Eee PC 4G 701). Will I be able to write a document on the linux netbook and transfer it to Microsoft Word on my home computer, and is this difficult?
If you have any additional knowledge/experience of this netbook, it would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to put more than one Linux distros on a Live USB? And if you do, how do you choose which one you want to use at start up? Does it look like the dual-boot screen if you had a dual boot on your computer?
Recently installed Debian and completely new to linux. Installed Samba package and selected the shared folder. On my windows machine, I can see the linux box but not a folder or drive under it. The folder is shared under linux with SMB (also tried NFS). The Windows machine has TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and Netbios protocols. When I bring up the add network place window, I can see the box but no folder/drive. When I right click to add it, I get a login window but no login I type in works. Tried the root and user I set up with installation.
Need help with this but also could someone recommend a complete noob guide to linux? All the sites I’ve read are not easy for complete beginers.
I have a dell inspiron 1501, and the only thing I’ve tried that works with the wifi card is sabayon, I’ve tried countless fixes, and none seem to work. So I was wondering if there are any linux distros that will work out of the box, and more specifically, if the dell ubuntu iso will work?
Sadly in Linux, certainly Ubuntu, the default GUI file search is not always useful. With a little patience you’ll find files quickly using the command line, where your options are most powerful: www.linuxhaxor.net
I am currently using ubuntu 8.04 version on Linux. For the most part I like it, but I would like something a little easier. I wanted to install java, but it required a lengthy process, which evolves root access, is their something a little easier, so I can just install java and flash by clicking on the installation file.
