I am looking for Linux Distribution that is the best one for the avid Windows User that can be downloaded and installed directly on my computer. I do not know how to burn ISO files, plus I need something fast and easy.

Is there an open source network monitor software that can capture packets from a wireless router
Even though not connected to the wireless router? Is there an open source program that can do this. I know of several programs that capture packets, but you actually have to be connected to the wireless router.. When I say connected I’m not mean physically I mean connecting by putting the wep or wap key. I want to capture packets from my laptop.

It would be very helpful if at the begining of the row would be consecutive numbers so that one can see how many signatures have accumulated already.
