Using Ubuntu – Part 1: Intro, Interface, and Codecs

WordPress bloggers, could you help a newb out?

I’m a complete newb on WordPress blogs. Despite that, I already have four blog posts up. I find the interface to be maddening; not user-intuitive at all. I tried Googling "how to use WordPress blogs" and I tried looking for a FAQ on WordPress with no luck except that I did notice one thing. The help that is available seems to be all geared towards helping users with the WordPress software they’ve downloaded. I never downloaded any software and, if I can avoid it, I’d rather not. But maybe that’s silly and stupid on my part. It’s certainly no fun trying to put together blogs just using the tools on the site, particularly as there are no instructions for doing it that way.

Any non-trolly input is welcome. Trolls will simply be ignored. ;-p

The Best Blogging Software Around – WordPress

quesomanrulz.com – Hello again everyone, this video tutorial is about WordPress and how to install and use some of it’s basic features. Two ways of installing WordPress are covered, Fantastico and Manual. Fantastico is preferred by most people and me, it makes the process simpler. If you have access to Fantastico then you should definitely use that. http and 000webhost.com both have the Fantastico service available for their free users. I use http and would suggest that. Thanks to BlackJackEnt for suggesting this tutorial. byethost.com http wordpress.org twitter.com Visit quesomanrulz.co.cc for more!

What kind of training do I need to use open source programing code?

Hey I want to know what kind of training will I need to use open source code from programs like Mame or Final Burn, emulators. If the rumor of the PS3 Hard Drive coming with Linux, I want to make a emulator in which people can play 4-6 player arcade games (with legal roms of course) on a TV through a PS3. I’m currently trying to get back in school to get a degree in Infomation Systems with a consentration in software, cause I want to become a game developer, but I want to start with using open source to see if I have the goods to make a good interface.

How do I start an open source GUI design project?

I want to initiate an open-source style project to design an advanced (animated) GUI for a new application. No initial commercial ambitions…just an ambition/curiosity of mine.

I would like to start with artists / graphic designers instead of coders because I really want to ‘think outside the box’ on the interface. (i.e. probably initially break all known GUI / windowing rules most coders know and love).

Most sites (like Sourceforge) seem oriented to coders rather than designers. I am not a designer myself, so I do not know where they hang out and where I could recruit some to the project.

A sourceforge for designers would be ideal, but I have a feeling it does not exist.

Any ideas on sites where I could start would be appreciated! I have beginner – intermediate knowledge on the open source concept itself, so anywhere I could do some more self-education on that would be great too.

Thanks in advance!
